The Cape Town Cycle Tour 2018 is set to take place on Sunday 11 March 2018. After last year’s event being cancelled due to the strong winds, this year’s Cape Town Cycle Tour has been eagerly awaited by cyclists and spectators alike. Please note that events like this can change in an instant. We will do our best to update this event listing if cancellations occur. From the website: “Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week is a nine-day celebration of all things cycling, where a world-famous city embraces human power and celebrates the healthy lifestyle and freedom of movement the humble bicycle offers all its inhabitants and visitors.” There will be various road closures and viewing spots. Farmhouse Rocks

On Saturday 10 March 2018, local bands The Rudimentals, Crimson House and Sean Koch Trio will be taking to the Farmhouse Rocks stage. Take a drive out to Scarborough for an afternoon of good music, good vibes and good times at Cape Farmhouse, as you enjoy the laid-back setting of this live music venue. Tickets are available via Quicket and cost around R90 per adult, R50 for students (student card essential), and R20 for kids under 12 years. Food and drinks will be on sale. Romeo & Juliet at Oude Libertas

On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 March 2018, the classic ballet Romeo & Juliet will be performed by Cape Town City Ballet at Oude Libertas Amphitheatre in Stellenbosch, as part of their Summer Festival. From the website: “Told in timeless classical style, this romantic ballet, will transport the viewer into a realm of family dispute with a tragic, but uplifting conclusion.” Tickets cost R190- R220 per person via Computicket. If musicals are more your cup of tea than ballet, be sure to head to the Artscape this weekend to catch West Side Story. This classic tale is based on Romeo and Juliet, telling the story of two rival gangs who battle it out on the harsh streets of 1950s New York. Running all weekend, there is a bit of romance, a bit of action, plenty of show-stopping songs, epic dances and loads of fun to be expected when watching this musical. CFlat Youth Jazz Festival

On Sunday 11 March 2018 between 15h00 and 19h00, Steenberg High School hosts the CFlat Youth Jazz Festival. A number of groups will take to the stage, including the Steenberg High Wind Band, South Peninsula High School Jazz Band, Steenberg High Jazz Band, Steenberg High Jazz Ensemble, Stellenbosch University Jazz Ensembles, and The Fostering Foundation Artists, as well as special guests Sophia Foster and RJ Benjamin. Tickets are available via the school or via Quicket at R50 per person. The event takes place in the courtyard of Steenberg High, where a new 1000 seater outdoor Alstom Music Pavilion has been erected. Celebrate the start of autumn on Saturday 10 March 2018 with the Mont Rochelle Harvest Festival, which takes place in the Cape Winelands town of Franschhoek.
