I love craft markets and the Rondebosch Craft Market is one of my favorite events in the Mother City this February. Taking place at Rondebosch Park, this stellar market is all about handcrafted items ranging from skin products and woodwork to clothing and sweet treats. Make sure to stop by the Animal Rescue Organisation stall and browse through their handcrafted products on offer. This is a pet-friendly market, which means that you can wander around the park and search for best-handcrafted items together with your dog.

2 Cape Town Pizza and Pasta Festival (February 8)

Foodies in Cape Town will definitely want to pay a visit to the amazing Cape Town Pizza and Pasta Festival at Fort Wynyard. With a variety of pizza and pasta dishes, craft beers, and delicious Italian desserts, the festival offers something for everyone. There will also be live music, entertainment for the little ones, and complimentary bunker tours that offer spectacular views of Table Mountain and V&A Waterfront. The tickets for the festival range from R100 to R150.

3 AKA Live@ Kirstenbosch (February 9)

If you are searching for things to do in Cape Town in February, make sure to check out the AKA live performance at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Also known as Supa Mega, this popular South African hip-hop rapper and songwriter has won numerous awards including the prestigious Namibia Annual Music Award for Pan African Artist of the Year. Tickets for the concert cost between R170 and R220.

4 Mother City Comedy Festival (February 11-29)

One of the most anticipated events in Cape Town this February, the Mother City Comedy Festival is taking place at the popular Baxter Studio Theatre. Visitors will have an opportunity to witness various comedy styles, as nearly 50 comedians are scheduled to perform at the festival which lasts for 3 weeks. From the country’s best upcoming talents like Chantal Jax and Kate Pinchuck to experienced comedians such as Nik Rabinowitz and Joey Rasdien, this year’s line-up is better than ever.

5. Romantic Open-Air Movie Night at The President Hotel (February 14)

Celebrating its 8th birthday, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 14th to 16th of February. The fair showcases contemporary art and features more than 100 local and international exhibitors. Visitors can look forward to a variety of sections and representations including print galleries and workshops, magazines, and other works of cultural institutions and non-profit organizations.

7 One&Only Presents Valentine’s Day Dinner @ Nobu (February 14)

There are many things to do in Cape Town in February and a visit to Cape Town Opera’s La bohème is one of them. Hosted by the Artscape Theatre Centre, this four-act opera is composed by Giacomo Puccini and sees the innovative production by Matthew Wild. The tickets for the performance range from R150 and R325. The opera can be seen on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 30 pm, on Saturday from 6 pm, and on Sunday from 3 pm.

9 15th Cape Town Folk n Acoustic Music Festival (February 16)

This stellar festival showcases some of the best folk and acoustic artists from South Africa including names such as James Stewart, Ross Learmonth, Andre De Villiers, Louise Carver, and many others. You can even bring your picnic food basket to the event, as well as refreshing drinks.

It is the largest electronic music festival in Africa and features some of the most popular artists from the scene including names such as Afrojack, Black Coffee, DJ Snake, Jamie Jones, Luciano, Steve Aoki, Camelphat and Dash Berlin. This worldwide event is held in nearly 30 countries and features the most popular DJ’s in the music business. Tickets for the festival start at R50.

12. Mother City Comedy Festival (27 February)

Kurt Schoonraad is headed to the Mother City Comedy Festival on the 27th of February with his new show titled, “Living with the German”.  This is a comedy show about the funny side of culture clash. Within the current international obsession of who is right and who is wrong dominating our media, this show explores who all human beings are, at the core, the same – they just have different skin tones, languages, passports and ideas of appropriate footwear. You don’t want to miss it!
