From a chocolate and Oyster & Bubbly Festival to the popular Homemakers Expo event, there is no shortage of exciting events in Cape Town to look forward to this weekend.

1 Cape Town Homemakers Expo 2019 (August 29 – September 1)

Themed “Raw Comfort”, the 24th annual Cape Town Homemakers Expo offers the latest features in décor, home, lifestyle trends, and design. Some of the highlights of the event which is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre include Interior Spaces, d’Vine Life, Truly Artisan, Outside, The Home | Tuis Theatre, the Concrete Workshop, the AV Emporium, and the brand new area called the Kitchen where you can attend demonstrations by famous local chefs and baristas. Whether you wish to purchase handcrafter ceramics, leather goods, and fabrics or bespoke décor and furniture is what you’re after, Cape Town Homemakers Expo offers something for everyone. The tickets cost 90 per adult, while pensioners can attend the event for R70.

2 Bubbly and Oyster Fest (August 30 – September 1)

Hosted by Mojo Market and powered by the Mussel Monger and Oyster Bar, Bubbly and Oyster Fest is one of the most exciting events in Cape Town this weekend. Besides thousands of oyster shots, there will be 30 food trucks at the festival, as well as a nice selection of wine, gin, and whiskey to enjoy. To keep the crowds entertained throughout this fabulous festival at Sea Point’s Mojo Market, 9 stellar bands are scheduled to perform. If you are visiting with kids, a nice entertainment area for the little ones will be provided.

3 The Chocolate Festival (August 31 – September 1)

If you have sweet tooth, make sure to head out to Stellenbosch this weekend and check out the amazing two-day Chocolate festival. There will be everything from chocolate brownies and marshmallows to macaroons, donuts, and ice cream. Just to balance out the sweetness, the organizers of the festival have decided to include non-chocolate foods like pizzas, burgers, and artisanal cheeses. Travelers visiting with kids will be happy to hear that entertainment such as face painting and a movie lounge is provided for the little ones. Tickets to the festival range between R50 and R180.

4 Good Night Fridays at V&A Waterfront (August 30)

There are many exciting events in Cape Town throughout the week and Good Night Fridays at the V&A Waterfront is one of them. Scheduled on the last Friday of every month from June to September, this spectacular event features numerous activities ranging from art and design installations and food and drink experiences to DJ’s spinning their favorite records. 5 Cape Gate Craft Beer Festival (August 30 – 31)

Beer lovers will definitely want to head out to the CapeGate Shopping Centre this weekend and attend the Cape Gate Craft Beer Festival. Expect to find many breweries such as Abru Motor Studio, Boston Breweries, Hamilton’s Gin & Tonic, Stellenbosch Brewing Co., Kings Craft Brewing Co., Noon Gun Breweries, Shackleton Brewing Company, The Italian Job Brewery, Urban Brewery, Wagon Trail Brewery, Dutch Republic G&T and Hopman Brewery showing off their finest products. There will also be a cool beer pong challenge which is organized by the Italian Job Brewery. In case you get hungry, the amazing Truck Norris food truck is serving delicious foods. As for the entertainment, Tasche’ Burger is scheduled to perform on Friday, while Chad Saaiman is the main act on Saturday. One ticket will set you back R90 at the event entrance and included one free drink.
