Did you know that Capetonians are crazy about their weekend brunch? This midday meal is a tradition here in South Africa’s Mother City and attracts everyone from early morning joggers to party-goers. Therefore, it’s no wonder that Cape Town is home to many restaurants and bars that serve delicious brunch on the weekends. 1 Starlings Café

Located in Claremont, Starlings Café boasts an inviting interior with small drawings on the walls and has a lovely garden. Expect to find dishes like brioche toast with Dijon hollandaise and bacon, eggs benedict, and smoked salmon. There are also plenty of vegan, diet friendly, and vegetarian options on the menu including poached pears with toasted almonds and yogurt. Starlings Café also served tasty smoothies and fresh coffee. Weekend brunch time is every Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm.

2 Superette

Head out to the trendy Woodstock Exchange and visit the fabulous Superette. This Cape Town café serves breakfast and lunch, but on Saturdays, it becomes a popular brunch joint that attracts a number of Capetonians. Make sure to try their fabulous herbed goat cheese waffle, scrambled eggs with bacon, and French toast stuffed with Nutella. Superette features a long counter that overlooks the main street and offers an ideal opportunity for people-watching. Saturday brunch is served from 8.30 am to 1.30pm.

3 Harveys at The Mansions

What better way to spend the weekends than go to one of the most popular brunch destinations in the Mother City, Harveys at The Mansions. Situated inside the Winchester Mansions right on the lovely Sea point promenade, Harveys is well-known for its buffet brunch and even has a live jazz band playing to top the whole brunch experience off. Visitors can sit outside on the terrace and order some of the signature weekend brunch dishes like scrambled eggs with crispy maple bacon, parmesan spring onion, and sweet corn, the salmon benedict, warm oats, and mushroom rosti. A glass of champagne and complimentary newspapers are offered upon arrival.

4 Loading Bay

Loading Bay is a shop that sells clothes and a café that serves the most amazing brunch on Saturdays. It may sound confusing, but you can enjoy their popular burger with cheese, bacon, eggs, and grilled banana served on a bun while checking out clothing brands like Naked & Famous Denim. There are also plenty of salads on the menu including goat cheese salads and beetroot.

5 Sotano

Located on Mouille Point in Cape Town, Sotano is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that serves exotic brunch and offers amazing ocean views.  Their signature brunch dish is definitely the Middle East-themed Shakshouka, sunny-side up eggs in a sauce of tomatoes, onions, chili, and red peppers. If you prefer a healthier option for your weekend brunch, order the homemade muesli or French toast with fresh fruit. The weekend brunch hours run from 7 am to 12:30 pm.
