Sharon Stone and Mariah join stars at lavish Cape Town hotel launch – One&Only Cape Town

It was a line-up to rival Oscar night as some of Hollywood’s biggest names – including Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro and Matt Damon descended on South Africa on Thursday to celebrate the opening of an exclusive new hotel & resort in Cape Town. The One&Only

The stars had jetted in to be at the celebrations for the six-star hotel complex The One & Only Cape Town – the latest venture by millionaire Sol Kerzner, who owns a number of luxury hotels around the world.

Sharon spent the evening snapping away on her camera in between chatting to songstress Mariah Carey, who treated the gathered invitees to a musical performance on the night.

The guest of honour at the day-time segment of the ‘money no object’ bash was former South African President Nelson Mandela. The anti-aparheid leader joined resort owner Sol for a lunch at the 130-room One & Only hotel, which boasts the largest suites of any hotel in the republic and is reported to have cost £75 million to build. Also present was sol’s wife Heather, whose 40th birthday London celebrations were covered in HELLO! last week.

Hollywood veteran Morgan Freeman, British star Thandie Newton and The Wrestler actress Marisa Tomei were also in attendance for the night’s festivities. And double Oscar winner Robert was also celebrating the launch of the hotel’s restaurant Nobu – the chain of which he is part-owner.

Flying the flag for Britain was Gordon Ramsay, there to launch his latest eaterie Maze – a 170-seat establishment within the resort, which is known as One&Only. The celebrity chef – who was joined by wife Tana at the party – demonstrated his culinary skills, whipping up a feast for the many A-listers in town.
