The Maynardville Open-Air Festival welcomes the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra this weekend. They will be performing “Famously Incidental”, a piece that focuses on music which is written to accompany a film or a drama. The tickets to this music event cost between R140 and R220 per person and the show starts at 8.15 pm.

2 19th Annual Classic Car and Bike Show (January 19-20)

A visit to the 19th Annual Classic Car and Bike Show is definitely one of the most fun things to do in Cape Town this weekend. Hosted by the International Police Association, this fabulous event offers visitors an opportunity to see some of the rarest and  most beautiful cars in the Western Cape. Modern and future classic cars are scheduled for Saturday, while Sunday is reserved for vintage classics. Visitors can enjoy refreshments at dozens of food stalls and unwind at the shared beer garden. The main aim of the event is to help those in need and every year IPA donates funds to various charities.

3 Freshlyground at Kirstenbosch (January 20)

One of the most successful bands from South Africa, Freshlyground are scheduled to perform this Saturday at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens as part of the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts series. This multi-award winning Afro-fusion band combines elements of classic pop, blues, and jazz sound with musical traditions from African countries like Zimbabwe and Mozambique. You can even bring your own picnic basket to the event and enjoy Freshlyground’s songs while admiring the beauty of Table Mountain. 4 Kids Storytelling & Treasure Hunt (January 20)

Hosted by Norval, Kids Storytelling & Treasure Hunt is one of the best family-friendly events in Cape Town this weekend. Norval’s first children’s book, “How Vincent, a Western Leopard Toad Found his Croak” will be read live this Sunday at the Norval Foundation Art Gallery. After the reading, visitors can go on a tour of the renowned Sculpture Garden where many treats are treasures will be hidden for the little ones to discover.
