1 The AfroFest (September 21-24)

Taking place at various locations all across Cape Town including CBD, Observatory, Langa, and Khayelitsha, the AfroFest is all about African music, craft, art, and food culture. Expect to find everything from storytelling and poetry to film screenings, music events, and food markets. This is one of the most anticipated Cape Town events this weekend.

2 Untapped @ Cape Town Cricket Club (September 20-21)

Cape Town Cricket Club is hosting the Untapped event this weekend. From many drinks available on tap including craft beers, ciders, and gin and tonic to a variety of excellent food trucks, there is plenty to look forward to at the Untapped. To keep visitors entertained, a local DJ will be spinning the records. If you are planning to visit with the little ones, there is a nice children area with entertainment such as softball sports and a jumping castle.

3 Giovanni Guidi @ Youngblood (September 20)

Head out to the Youngblood Arts and Culture Development this Friday to listen to the performance by the talented Italian jazz pianist Giovanni Guidi. Presented by Slow Life, the concert starts at 8 pm and tickets can be bought for R180 per person. For those who don’t know, Giovanni Guidi is a soloist and an accompanist who performed together with the famous Enrico Rava on many occasions. He will be joined on stage by talented musicians including Hein vd Geyn on upright, Lee Thompson on trumpet, Rus Nerwich on saxophone and Jonno Sweetman on drums.

4 Hermanus Flower Festival (September 21-24)

Nature lovers will definitely want to check out the Hermanus Flower Festival this weekend and join the annual celebration of the Cape fynbos. There will be many fynbos exhibits, as well as hands-on creative workshops at the Amphitheatre. In case you get hungry or wish to have something to drink, the festival offers light lunches, wine, beer, and the tasty fynbos craft gin.

5 Live Music @ Bay Harbour Market (September 20-22)

Open from Friday to Sunday, Bay Harbour in Hout Bay is a great place to hang out on the weekends. This fantastic market is also hosting many excellent Cape Town events including the live music performances over the weekends. Head out to the Harbour Market this Friday to catch the performance by Radiophonia, while the Local Crew band is scheduled to perform on Saturday. Malek & the Thunderstones are playing on Sunday.
