Blast from the past – Van Riebeeck festival in 1952

One of the largest festivals in post war South Africa took place in Cape Town in April 1952. The van Riebeeck festival commemorated the landing at the Cape of Jan van Riebeeck 300 years ago. This is a photo of the main arena that could seat 100,000 people.
