The lodge occupies an elevated hilltop position overlooking the bushveld, creating sweeping views and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Guests can relax beside the infinity pool or enjoy the surroundings from private decks between wildlife activities.
The six suites draw their inspiration from the cultures and visual traditions of three South African tribes – Bushman, Ndebele and Zulu. Accommodation comprises three King Suites and three Impi Suites, with each King and Impi pairing reflecting one of these three distinctive themes.
Morning and afternoon game drives are included, together with seasonal walking safaris, opportunities to track big game on foot and birdwatching. Experienced guides lead the wildlife activities, offering guests the opportunity to discover the reserve and its wildlife, including the Big Five.
All meals are included, together with teas, coffees and a selection of local beverages, including beer, wine and soft drinks.
In the evenings, Makumu transforms as approximately 300 candles are lit throughout the lodge, creating an atmospheric setting in which to enjoy the sights and sounds of the African bush.
