For a laidback, traditional family beach outing, visit the quiet False Bay coastline. With the advantages of warm waters, this family destination offers many outdoor activities with tourist attractions nearby, and a n even more relaxed attitude.

For beaches in the area, try Muizenberg, great for surfing & swimming. Kalk and St. James Bays are great for families with children; these beaches include quaint tidal pools for safe wading.

Kalk Bay also offers parents a unique shopping experience, with antique and household art stores, as well as a small marina.

Find a popular sleepy-town beach at Fish Hoek; this laidback atmosphere is great for families and long walks along the beach.

For the more historical adventure, try the naval town of Simon’s Town, which also has a museum & gemstone farm.

Boulder’s beach is another popular destination which is not to be missed; the penguin colonies are always a hit with the kids!
