The Wellington is a chic Hideaway in the hub of the city of Cape Town. In an old building with high ceilings and original wooden floors- on the second floor- off Longmarket street. To say that we were surprised is an understatement! We loved the feeling of being in a New York city loft… It is uber trendy and some amazing curated pieces that are made and designed in CT. A Gregor Jenkins dining table and lamp, art by Rodan Kane Hart, Cameron Platter, Nico Krijno, Lakin Ogunbanwo and Michael Taylor adorn every bit of the walls.
Large windows afford a view of the bustling streets below and flood the apartment with light. Dividers of different styles and sizes turn the open plan space into a few discreet, comfortably sized rooms- each with their own flavour. There are sprawling rugs, ample chairs and sofas to become ensconced and escape into a good book or to relax after a day/night on the town. The bathroom, with glossy finishes and metro tiles, offers a nod to modernity but the space retains its old world grace. Be sure to visit the Oranjezicht City Farm for their market or to pick your own harvest to cook during your stay. The Wellington is close to the centre of the city, trendy cafes and restaurants as well as the Waterfront for shopping and dining.
