Sea Foam is the home of Anne and Steve Eales, founders of Naartjie Clothing, and their 3 sons. Creativity is in their blood and it is evident in all aspects of their home. It was designed by local architect and close friend, Peter Mamacos. Steve was fortunate enough to grow up in Llandudno and his three boys have inherited his love of the ocean and surfing the fast, clear waves breaking on their doorstep.
The house sits above the ocean looking due North along the length of Llandudno beach and beyond to Robben Island. It has unparalleled sea and mountain views, bound by granite cliffs on the West and a large fynbos filled public open space on the East. This gives it a sense of privacy seldom found in houses in built up areas. The house is designed for maximum indoor outdoor living. All rooms open out onto outside deck, patio or garden areas and all have magnificent views. The open plan-living level includes dining, lounge and kitchen. Even the kitchen has views in 3 different directions. On the North side this level opens onto a deck that borders a lap pool long enough to keep fit in.
Incorporated into this is an outside dining and lounge area with a neat woodburning braai (barbecue) area, with gas option included. Adjoining this is a lawn with loungers for sun worshippers. At the other end of the deck is a recess with a large comfy couch for escaping with a book, or a quiet nap. Both the lounge and dining area have large sliding doors/windows that can be slid away on those perfect days for a seamless inside/outside lifestyle. This living/dining area also opens out onto a zen deck at the back with a koi pond or a small East facing patio, to catch those early morning rays with a hot cuppa java in hand. What bliss.
